Syllabus- 7th Grade
The Elements of Art and Principles of Design are core to our exploration of Art. If we think them as being part of the “language of Art,” it helps us understand how artists put together ideas and pull us into the work. When we speak the language of Art, we can more effectively discuss, analyze, and create Art.
During their time in Visual Arts class, 6th graders will learn fundamental skills using the Elements and Principles of Design and how to apply it to their own work. Students will create 2-d and 3-d work through drawing, painting, printmaking and sculptural investigation.
Areas of Focus

Color Wheel Review
Mirror Image Name Design
Intro One-Point Perspective
Clay Dishes
Metal Tooling
Due Dates and Late Work Policy:
Studio Assignments are done primarily in class due to the fact that most artwork is cumbersome to transport home, and some supplies/tools cannot be removed from the Art room. Therefore, it is imperative that students use their class time wisely. Occasionally, students may take their assignments home if there is a need, and if supplies allow.
IF a student has used his or her time wisely during class, work will be accepted late with no penalty with prior approval from me.
